MARGUERITE WILGUS, LONGVIEW

One of our favorite Longview Mensa members has a big write-up in the November 15 weekly "Texas Catholic" newspaper. The article was written for readers of her Quiz column, "What Saint Am I?" which has appeared weekly for nearly two years.

The article has a 30 column-inch biography that we can only briefly quote - you can read it at the March meeting! Marguerite's father was a former sailor who had sailed around the world four times. She was born in Colorado, studied in Paris, and married Chuck Wilgus. She taught Spanish and French for a while after they were married, and later drove with their two small sons to Mexico City.

While teaching at White Oak she supervised a trip to Mexico for her students every other year. She also led trips to Europe. Besides her weekly column she is active in finding homes for foreign exchange students. One of her hobbies is reading: she keeps a list of all the books she has read. Another hobby is water fitness, which she attends twice a week.

Marguerite says she has been a clerk, a legal secretary, conducted psychological tests, taught Latin as well as French and Spanish, and worked with the U.S. Employment Service and the Veterans Administration.
