Famous cowboy astronomer Baxter Black is performing at Tyler Junior College's Hudnall Planetarium every Sunday in November. Our Mensa group is aiming for the 17th performance, and we hope you can join us! TJC is located about 3/4 mile inside East Loop 323 on Highway 64 (E. Fifth St.). Hudnall is a small, round-topped building on the east side of the campus, about 2 blocks north of Fifth St. Join other Mensans and the Cowboy Astronomer as he spins a few yarns about the stars. Your family will be captivated as Baxter Black, noted cowboy humorist and poet, relates numerous tales about the stars. He tells some cowboy stories about the stars, a few Native American Indian star stories, as well as some of the familiar Greek constellation stories. Along the way he hits on a 'good store' of science information about the universe, too. Adults - $1.50, Children under 12 - $1.00.

Hudnall Planetarium will feature a Christmas show at 2:00 p.m. Dec 1, 8, & 15 and 1:00 p.m. Dec 4 & 11. You'll hear early pioneer traditions and American Indian stories about the stars, plus see some brand new Christmas constellations discovered by the TJC astronomers. Free Star Parties are scheduled Nov 9 (6:30-8:30) and Dec 14 (6:00-8:00) if it's NOT cloudy or raining.
