Hi,

I’m almost recovered from the AG.  I know folks go to New Orleans for hurricanes but between Carrie and Dennis, it was a bit much.  We had a wonderful time and look forward to next year’s World Gathering in Orlando.

WB’s “Beauty and the Geek II” is looking for a few single male Mensans between the ages 21 and 35.  They will be casting in Dallas, August 5 through 9.  I will have a party for the directors and casting crew at my home in Allen the evening of Aug 6.  Anyone interested, call me on 972-396-9399.  I have three spare bedrooms, if you want to come to the party and overnight with Sue and me.

Gatherings Calendar:  Huntsville, AL August 12-14; Lone Star Mensa Austin, TX September 2-5; AMC Meeting Mini-gathering September 16-18; North Texas Mensa, Dallas November 24- 27.  I’m hospitality chair at each of these gatherings. In addition to the usual things, I’ll be serving chocolate fountains at each of these events.  If you’ve never been to a Mensa gathering, I strongly advise you to try one of them. Most of us indicate that we joined Mensa to talk with smart people.  What better way to meet smart people than to spend a weekend at a hotel with 70 to 150 Mensans and their guests? One thing I can assure you is plentiful hospitality.

October 22 is National Testing Day.  Consider offering your time to help your local Proctor team to have a successful testing day.  Contact me at rvc6@us.mensa.org to volunteer or for more information.

The following message was issued too late to get into the local group August newsletters:

A common way Mensa gets new members is from the recommendations of current members.  Do you have a friend with whom you would like to share Mensa?

We're making it easy - and cheap - for  your friends and colleagues to qualify for Mensa membership.  During the entire month of August,  they may send in the results of any standardized intelligence test they've taken in the past, and we'll evaluate the test scores for Mensa membership for free. (There is usually a $30 fee to evaluate test scores.)  We accept the results from more than 200 tests; a partial list may found at http://www.us.mensa.org/join_mensa/testscores.php3 .   If they qualify, they'll be sent an offer of membership.

Please take this opportunity and invite your friends and colleagues to join Mensa.  To take advantage of our offer,  visit www.us.mensa.org and follow the instructions on that page.
